About the Project

The emoji drop-down windows on the smartphone resemble traditional Japanese theatre masks. This is a small set of emotional reactions expressed by simple visual symbols, but how clearly they reflect our behaviour: living by set patterns, with limited behaviour modes and standardised thinking. The artist took the most common, frequently used emojis and combined them with his own feelings and experiences; this is how the author’s images turned out.
