‘Italy — Twilight Skylines from Police helicopters’ is an exhibition featuring photographs by Massimo Sestini, winner of the World Press Photo. When taking photos for the Italian State Police, flying in an AgustaWestland AW139 and AB212 by Leonardo-Finmeccanica, the photographer immortalized Italy’s landscapes, an hour after sundown or an hour before sunrise. With their evocatively beautiful light, the images on display document the wonders of Italy, unique in their variety and harmony.

For the first time in the history of photography, an entire country is narrated through images strictly taken in suspended time. An apical view of the most beautiful cities in Italy (Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples) are shown alongside some of the most stunning parts of the country (the Dolomites, the Stromboli volcano, the salt marshes in Trapani, etc.). The entire operation was carried out by the photojournalist Massimo Sestini and was possible thanks to the participation of the Italian State Police, who made their helicopters and equipment available to the photographer. The exhibition also includes a video with the entire sequence of these 36 unique photos together with backstage images that show visitors the efforts undertaken throughout the two-year project and the difficulties in carrying it out. This thrilling exhibition at the MAMM in Moscow follows on the heels of the show at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, headquarters of the Presidency of the Italian Republic, and will continue in some of the principle cities around the world.
