Alexey Orlov “Alone in the Field”

The artistic concept behind the project ‘Alone in the Field’ had humble beginnings. For a long time fields, whether wild or cultivated, had been the author’s favourite place for solitary walks or photography practice. No finer place, so they say, than the open fields! Fresh air, worries left behind, and a good view all round. You can talk out loud, to yourself or anyone you choose. Out walking one day, he asked himself: ‘Why am I here alone, where are the people? A figure added over there would make a great picture’. So the author began inviting friends, acquaintances and anyone else sympathetic to his ideas on these photographic walks. Some were delighted to go for a stroll; others just did as the photographer asked. Several sat right down on the ground in their tights, while a few frowned in disgust whenever they found a burr stuck to their trousers. Some people reminisced about their country childhood; others stared at passing villagers as if they were aliens from another planet and got ready to run every time they saw a dog. All very interesting. Here is the result.
